2017 PACKAGING ACHIEVER AWARD WINNER – BILL MARSHALL

The annual Gold Pack Awards took place on Wednesday 22 November 2017 and as in the past at this event Packaging SA bestows the highest accolade that the South African Packaging Sector can upon an individual whom we believe has made an outstanding contribution to our industry.

The candidates for 2017 who were nominated and accepted their nominations are, in alphabetical order:

  1. Clive Glover – Independent Packaging Consultant & Photographer
  2. Bernhard Mahl – Head of Sales, KAP Chemicals
  3. Bill Marshall – MD, Syndicate Graphics & National Secretary, IPSA
  4. Robin Moore – CEO, RPC Astrapak

Bill Marshall was awarded the prestigious title of Packaging Achiever for 2017.

Bill has an extremely proud history of serving the sector. He became a member of the Institute of Packaging SA in 1993 and was invested as a Fellow of the Institute of Packaging SA in 2010. He has served the Institute in many roles including National Chairman, Northern Region Chairman, Gold Pack Judge, Packaging Education Board Member, National Packaging Conference Convenor, Student Gold Pack Convenor, National Secretary & National Events Convenor and Gold Pack Chairman.
His passion for the Student Gold Pack Awards is founded on helping our industry to nurture young talent and encourage them to choose the packaging industry for their future careers. He has always shown his support of and commitment to skills development in the packaging industry, particularly through IPSA’s training programmes, workshops and conferences. He has been the convenor of the past three SA National Packaging Conferences.
His interest in the technical aspect of the industry has seen him join the National Executive of the Flexographic Technical Association of South Africa and he chairs the FTASA’s Flexographic Print Excellence Awards.
His international reputation has also resulted in him being appointed to run the World Packaging Organisation’s (WPO) WorldStar Student Awards.
His background in sales and marketing, his experience and knowledge of brand communication combined with his understanding of a wide range of printing processes all give him a special insight into the technical and creative demands of packaging design and the packaging industry.  He is also a Board member of Packaging SA.

His commitment to our industry is unwavering and his door for advice and mentoring has always been open – we would comfortably go so far as to state that many in the packaging environment look to him for direction, leadership & advice about the Industry.
